It’s good to see a senior politician talking about helping the homeless. On the BBC’s Andrew Marr show Jeremy Corbyn set out his plans for making more housing available for rough sleepers. Mr Corbyn pledged to work with Local Authorities and Housing Associations (should Labour get into power) to provide more council properties with lifetime tenancies at a secure rent. He also pledged to intervene in the private rented sector. He said that Labour’s policy is to make 8,000 additional homes available for the homeless. Let’s hope this is the start of some serious action in Parliament!
It’s her 95th birthday today, but she still finds time to make the sandwiches for the Bus tonight!
Beatrice is one of our oldest volunteers. She helps out on the Bus in Matlock most Tuesday afternoons where she is very popular with our guests. She is also on the rota helping make sandwiches for the Bus’ Monday night visits to Chesterfield.
We have an amazing team of volunteers doing a myriad of tasks to keep the Bus operating and to help all our guests in so many ways. We are so thankful for their support – particularly on a birthday!
If you are interested in becoming one of our volunteers, come along to one of our sessions and speak to the Leader. For details of our sessions see:
