We desperately need more sleeping bags. Each week we receive two or three times as many requests for sleeping bags as we have bags available to give out. Note that we do keep a record of who has been issued with a bag. We do this to try to prevent any obvious abuse of our generosity (and the generosity of our supporters).
A sleeping bag can literally be a life saver in cold winter weather. Fortunately most of us have a warm comfy bed to go to at night. Please spare a thought for those who haven’t.
Please, please support us by either donating sleeping bags, or donating money for us to buy them. You can leave donations of bags at St Thomas’ Centre behind St Thomas’ church on Chatsworth Road. Alternatively you can bring them to the Bus at 7.30pm on a Monday or Thursday evening outside Chesterfield Town Hall.
If you wish to donate money, please visit our how you can help us page.
Hi there .. we have 3 used but washed and clean sleeping bags – one is a double size too ….I will drop them off at st Thomas Church Centre- but just wondering if a used kettle and toaster are of any use ….? And also an older ladies bag of clothes? Please let me know …
We will be really grateful for the sleeping bags – thank you so much. At tonight’s session we gave out every sleeping bag we had on the Bus and still had requests for 2 more! The other items are not really needed by us at the moment, so you might want to take them to a charity shop. We are quite well supplied with women’s clothing at the moment, but thank you for enquiring. Without people like you we couldn’t help half as many needy folk – we had about 40 guests on the Bus tonight.
Hi I have 3 as new thick hooded mens padded jackets and wondered if they would be of any use for the homeless bus if so where can I drop them off? Thank you
You can take them to St Thomas’ Centre and leave them there, clearly marked ‘for Church on the Bus’. St Thomas’ Centre is behind St Thomas’ church on Chatsworth Road in Chesterfield (near Heaton Street). The postcode is S40 3AW.
Alternatively you can bring them to the Bus at 7.30pm on a Monday or Thursday evening when the Bus will be parked outside the front of Chesterfield Town Hall.
